We probably started writing our storybook about 13 years ago, when we first took in a little body that needed a home. At that time she “toured” from house to house over weekends and stayed in the hostel during the week.
We began to wonder: Who really takes responsibility for her? To whom does she go at the end of the term with her report card to be signed? With whom can she celebrate her achievements, or talk about her broken heart?
Little did we know that this one “yes” would open the doors for many more little bodies in our home.
For us the question was never whether we had enough to give, but rather: how much more water can we add to the “soup” to fill another hungry tummy!
Furthermore, we can testify with great gratitude how the community helped to clothe these little ones and blessed us where and when we least expected it!
For my own children there were definitely pros and cons, but they always listened with a smile when we said:
“Guess what… our family is expanding… AGAIN!”
